NH Wing Helps Out During COVID 19 Emergency

Good evening, Team Granite State

I just wanted to update everyone on how Civil Air Patrol is contributing to the effort against COVID-19 here in New Hampshire. We are currently operating under the national Ops Plan for COVID-19 and other guidance issued by NHQ as our “rules of engagement.”

Wednesday evening, the New Hampshire EOC requested CAP support to transport medical supplies for DHHS to two hospitals in Coos County. Thursday morning, under the direction of the CAP Incident Commander Col Moran, Majors Davis & Hylen repositioned two trailers loaded with supplies to Berlin and Lancaster from the Concord area.

Today, the EOC requested assistance transporting several 10 x 10 tents to two different facilities in the Concord area. Lts Col Sandy & Brian Riis took charge of that sortie and delivered the tents by 1300 this afternoon.

The state agencies we’ve supported thus far have been happy and impressed with our ability to respond to their requests. This means we’ll be getting more taskings to support the state going forward, perhaps as early as tomorrow.

In closing, I want to thank all our members who have taken on new and different roles and responsibilities in the last few weeks that they probably didn’t expect to have thrust upon them. This is a very unusual time in our history, something we haven’t seen in over 100 years. If you haven’t already, please reach out to your fellow members, your wingmen. Check in on them, make sure they’re doing OK, and make sure they’re getting the message that CAP is still very much in operation even if we’re not meeting face to face.

They say that “flexibility is the key to airpower.” Flexibility combined with smart thinking and our keen Granite State know-how will be the key to our continued success, and the success of our state and nation while we face the challenges ahead.

Semper Vigilans!
